Mac OS X Network Printing Techniques (Stupid CUPS Tricks) – Eric T Gadsby & Stanley Patterson

Do network printers in Mac OS X drive you crazy? This session is for you. In this session we will discuss how to leverage the Mac OS X’s build in printing system; CUPS to achieve your users printing goals while maximizing technical support time and effort. Apple and 3rd party products will be discussed. The talk will include examples, a question and answer period, and discussion time. Some take-home resources will be provided.

eric_t_gadsbyEric T. Gadsby is an IT Operation Specialist at Towson University. He has more then 16 years experience working with Macintosh computers as both and end user and a systems administrator. His primary work is in lab management in higher education, Mac OS Active directory integration, and scientific instrumentation and software support. Gadsby comes from a liberal arts background and firmly believes that technology can only be successful when the needs of the users are fully understood and taken into account. To this end he is currently perusing a master degree in Human Centered Computing at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He lives in Parkville Maryland with his wife Sarah, and crazy but lovable Jack Russell Terrier, Captain.

Some of his primary work includes managing classroom and lab workstations, which are composed of traditional, dual operating systems and virtual lab environments. Stanley holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Gettysburg College and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Applied Information Technology at Towson University.
