BYOD, or Lobster Shack IT – Michael Brodt

For years, IT departments have been the full-service restaurants of companies, providing a wide menu of tech options and catering to every need, large and small. However, with the BYOD revolution seeping into businesses everywhere at an astounding pace, this model has been unable to serve. In best efforts, IT departments are turning to Mobile Device Managers as a solution to manage the plethora of unmanaged devices being used by seemingly unmanageable customers.

This session will help IT Pros take a step back, and realize that BYOD is not a bad thing. But to support it, IT itself must adapt the fundamentals of how it works and thinks; we must move away from the full service restaurant model, in favor of “Lobster Shack IT”.

michael_t_brodtI am an IT professional with over 12 years experience, most of which focused on the Mac and iOS devices. I was a Mac Genius for 3 years before moving into both educational and enterprise environments, providing integration and workflows for support. In addition to Mac and iOS support, I also develop and implement frameworks and models to help bring BYOD to businesses of any size.
