Description: For a long time in the IT field, the idea of multi layered security is the way companies, healthcare, educational institutions, and many other organizations, have chosen to protect their infrastructures. Since the beginning of IT as we know it, layered security is the most resilient way to protect our data and intellectual property. This concept can still be daunting to many organizations. In this session we will cover the idea of multi layered security (Onion Security) and learn how at Millersville University we keep the “bad guys” out!


About the speaker

Todd Echterling (Twitter: @TechToddMU) – Campus IT Security Specialist / Systems Administrator – Millersville University

I am currently the Campus IT Security Specialist / Systems Administrator at Millersville University. I have been on the IT staff at MU for 20 years. In my role as Security Specialist I manage our layers from vulnerability scanning to endpoint protection. I also hold other roles on campus as the advisor to the Computer Science Programming team as well as the advisor for the Cyber Defense Organization. Over the Summer months I also teach middle school technology camps on our campus. In my IT career, within the last few years I have started assisting with our Mac Admin on campus with supporting macOS as well as iOS. On a personal note I have a loving wife and two young men ages 9 and 11, and we love to vacation to Ocean City Maryland and West Coast of Michigan.
