Extending OS X Management Systems with Scripting

Many OS X management tools offer expandability through scripting. While the management system may be perfectly fine out-of-the-box, intrepid system administrators can take advantage of scripting capabilities to do more, do it faster, and do it better. We will discuss how and where these systems can be expanded, provide guidelines for successful scripts for those tools, and show real-world examples.

Key Concepts:

  • Add UNIX shell and Python scripts to management systems
  • Show tips and tricks for writing effective scripts
  • Integrate multiple systems together with scripting
