When Zero Touch Deployment Isn’t and When It Should and Shouldn’t Be

Speakers: Ben Greisler

Level: Presentation

Excerpt: A big selling point of MDM products is the fabled “Zero-Touch” deployment. While we would all love that to be real, often it isn’t. Let’s talk about it.

Description: The MDM providers and Apple wax poetic about zero-touch deployments but the reality is that it is often more of a goal than a reality. There is a lot that can be automated but not everything can. What can we do to deal with that and what is the reality we need to plan on as Mac Admins? Let’s talk real examples of why Zero-Touch is a something to reach but how to prepare our users for what will really happen when they get their devices in hand..

Leveling Up – Managing admin rights in the enterprise

Speakers: Rich Trouton

Level: Presentation

Excerpt: Discussing how to manage admin rights for users in an enterprise environment.

Description: A fundamental and controversial issue for enterprise Mac admins is the management of admin rights for their user community. Some say granting admin is fine, others think it’s a bad idea and yet others have regulatory requirements which govern what can be done.
Like other enterprise environments, SAP has had to deal with the issue of admin rights for their users and developed a tool called Privileges to manage them. Join me for a discussion of the pros and cons of admin rights in general and how SAP arrived at developing and using Privileges for their solution to the issue..
