Shipping Containers with Docker

Docker is an open-source project to easily create lightweight, portable, self-sufficient containers from any application. Imagine being able to take all the components of your server and just plop them onto another server. With Docker you created the environment that is truly independent of the items installed on the server. You can easily move these containers from server to server and the only requirement is having docker installed on the server.

Scott GallagherScott is a Linux systems administrator in the Classroom and Lab Computing group at Penn State.  Scott manages the servers that offer many services to the Penn State community. Foremost the Sites at Penn State project; which is a multi-group collaboration effort to offer a central blogging service to the community. The service allows faculty, staff, and students the ability to use the service for many aspects of their work, teachings, and classwork. Scott loves to present on any material related to IT and help assist to expand new and continuing technology services to the PSU community.
