Project Management and the Mac Admin

Speakers: Chris Golebiowski

Level: All Levels, Lecture

Excerpt: Learn how key project management skills dovetail into being a more effective Mac Admin.

Description: Sometimes we are so focused on the technology and our scripts that we forget there is an end goal. In this presentation, you will get the chance to take your soft skills for a spin, and dive into some key project management concepts and methodology. These skills will add to any Mac Admin’s toolkit, to help deliver projects of any size on time, in budget and with quality that aim to make every stakeholder happy with the final result.
We will take real life Mac Admin projects (such as the deployment of Office 365, Mojave, new iPads or Macs, or the development of a script or application, or implementation of some other cool new thing) and take a look at how each of the phases of the project can be driven.
Even if you are a one person IT crew with no project management experience, taking a structured approach to your projects may aide with your personal organization, know when and how to escalate, and improve communication with your management. If you DO have a project manager and/or a PMO on your side, you will walk away knowing how to effectively leverage them.

About the speaker

Chris Golebiowski (Twitter: @Cgolebio) – Engineer – Biogen

I have been working in the IT services and support industry for over 14 years, mostly in and supporting the Life Sciences industry. I started my professional career at Insight as a Field Engineer, undertaking data center build-outs and migrations. Prior to that, I was performing web development and small project work. After a few years being with Insight, I slid into Project Coordination and Management, also obtaining PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from PMI. I continued into Service Delivery Management, responsible for 25+ desktop technicians supporting US and Canada. After almost 11 years with Insight, I moved back to being technical with my latest endeavor at Biogen, assuming the role of Mac systems engineer and Apple and MDM platform administrator supporting 500 Macs and over 7000 mobile devices (95% iOS) globally.
I enjoy spending time with my wife, 2 cats, and soon to be 2 kids (boy of 3 years, and girl on the way in May).
